Mireya is the second daughter of Juan
Quezada. She has been making pottery
for several years. She lives in Nuevo
Casas Grandes and used to work at pottery with a local teacher, Elias Javier
Perez Davila. Then she managed a small
restaurant. During that period she did
not give adequate time to her artistic endeavors, and the quality of her work
varied. In the last few years she has
devoted herself solely to working on her pottery. Now she consistently produces high quality pieces.
Most of Mireya’s pots
are of white clay, but some are a deep pink.
Many have a gracefully sculptured mouth. The designs typically sweep down around the pot from the top and are
repeated two or three times around the pot.
