Meet Ana Novella

I was instantly drawn when I discovered Ana’s sculptures.  Immediately I knew this would be an excellent addition to our unique collection of fine art at ElCoquiGalleries.com.

Brown Pig
Brown Pig, GA006-SP, $400

A native of Barcelona, Ana is inspired by myths and legends.  She has the ability to transform culture and nature into art.  You might notice that her main subjects are birds. In many primitive cultures such as Ancient Egypt and during the Aztec/Mayan periods birds were often symbols of the soul

Ana said:   “I represent narrative compositions, sometimes different stories in the same painting or just a part of a legend between Paradise and Earth, but they represent our days with wishes, thoughts, pleasures.   I like working with the causal more than the conscious mind, allowing for spontaneity to flow.”

Ana’s sculptures are made with a blend of recycled materials, welded metal, fiberglass, paper-mache etc.  Mixing materials provides additional beauty, strength and personality to her pieces.

Ana received her Diploma in Art in 1989 at the Colle of fine art Llotja, in Barcelona.  Afterward, she continued her art education in London.  Her work has been displayed at art galleries in Amsterdam, Holland, England, London, Barcelona, and France.  In 1999 her work was introduced for the first time in the United States at the Terrain Gallery in San Francisco, California.
