Tapestries -
Mexico
We are pleased to
introduce hand-woven tapestries from the Oaxacan region in
Mexico.
The
designs are influenced by the local village surroundings as well as
the rich Aztec traditions.
Each tapestry is hand-woven on both sides, a sign of fine
craftsmanship. The
tapestries can be hung from the fringes or used as fine
rugs |
Two of the tapestries
depict scenes from the rolling hills of the Valley of Oaxaca, La Iglesia (The
Church) and Adobe Houses. The bright colors of these
tapestries are obtained by using natural tints from the local
vegetation. Our The
Legend tapestry is based on the story of the foundation of
Mexica, which became the main city under the Aztecs. Our Fishes and Birds
represent two of the natural resources of the region.
Constantino
and his family are self-sufficient in their pursuits. They raise the sheep, shear
them and spin the wool.
They make the colors from the local vegetation. And finally, they weave the
rugs and tapestries to be taken to the local markets.
We hope you
enjoy our authentic tapestries to add flair and color to your
décor! |
